We have tried to apply in person through our former state coordinator of West Bengal who is now the eastern regional coordinator of us to the concerned District Magistrate for sending our application of Title Verification of our proposed human rights newspaper to the Registrar of Newspaper of India but his office has refused to accept our application without assigning any reason for the same. Thereafter, we have sent our newspaper title verification application to the office of the aforesaid District Magistrate through speed post and due to his inaction to take action on our application, we have lodged a complaint before the National Human Rights Commission of India which in turn, for two times, has direct the Chief Secretary of the State of West Bengal to take appropriate legal action on our newspaper title verification application. The matter is presently pending before the aforesaid commission and we are waiting for appropriate action. This inaction on the part of the aforesaid public officer comes as a retaliation for our legitimate human rights work of lodging complaint against the illegal activity of his subordinate public officers for which he were, on several occasion, compelled to pay compensation and take other legal actions against his subordinates who were found guilty of abusing human rights. We do hope that we will win this battle and one day we will come up with our human rights newspaper.
